FateBack uses two data centers for its vast network of servers. One of the data centers is located on the West Coast in Fremont, California. The other one is located in Tampa, Florida.
The data center in Fremont, California is owned by one of the largest companies in the server co-location business – Host Centric.
This is the first data center that FateBack uses from the launch of our free web hosting service in September 2001.
The data center in Tampa, Florida is owned by one of the fastest growing companies in this industry currently – Sago Networks.
The conditions in this data center are extremely advantageous and favorable for the free web hosting service that we offer. That is why we have decided that the future growth of the free web hosting network of FateBack will continue in the data center in Tampa, Florida.
For the free web hosting service of FateBack, we are using the data center in Tampa, Florida, which is extremely reliable with an Internet connection of huge bandwidth and good technical support.
For the paid web hosting service of FateBack, we are using the data center in Fremont, California, which is one of the best data centers on the West Coast of the USA, perhaps not only on the West Coast. This data center is used for all paid hosting accounts that were not converted from free hosting accounts. If a paid account is converted from a free one, it will be hosted in Tampa, Florida.
All free web hosting accounts that you decide to convert into paid hosting accounts at a later stage will continue to be hosted in the data center in Tampa, Florida, which is not a problem at all. It is simply very difficult to move converted accounts from the data center in Tampa, Florida to the data center in Fremont, California.
All paid web hosting accounts, which are not converted from free web hosting accounts, but were purchased directly as one of the four paid web hosting plans that we offer, will be hosted in Fremont, California.
A few words about the two data centers
We have been using the data center in Fremont, California since 1999 for free web hosting services similar to the ones that we currently offer but of smaller, almost negligible dimensions compared to our present capabilities. This was so, because in the period from 1999 to 2001 we were building and rigorously testing the free web hosting software that we were developing, which by the way was replaced by a much more advanced solution, due to the present situation in the web hosting business.
The replacement of the old free web hosting software (Sept. 2001 – June 2004) with the new free web hosting software (June 2004 to the present) coincided with the deployment of the new range of services that we started offering:
1. Four UNIX/Linux web hosting plans:
Domain Hosting, Domain Hosting Plus, Multiple Domain Hosting & Multiple Domain Hosting Plus
2. Domain name registration and Domain name transfer services:
Standalone registration of domains or completely free registration of domains with the purchasing of some of the paid web hosting packages offered. The specific number of free domain name registrations depends on the chosen web hosting package. The same applies to domain transfers as well.
3. Web Design services.
4. Addition of FrontPage extensions to the free web hosting plan.
5. Providing 24/7 customer support to all free web hosting customers of FateBack.
6. Making available a FateBack Directory for all who wish to be listed there.
7. Other smaller and perhaps insignificant changes.
All this changes were combined with a change of the web design of our site in the middle of June 2004.
We have always strived to offer a free web hosting service at a sufficiently high level to make a good name for FateBack.
The results that we have achieved from 2001 to 2004 suggest that we have obviously succeeded with this goal. If not completely, at least partially…
With the changes made in the middle of June 2004, we have started to offer an even better free web hosting service.
